About Me 🖋️
Hi! My name is Dominique, and I am a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program at the University of Delaware working with the extraordinary Dr. Alon Hafri.
Prior to starting my PhD, I completed a master’s degree in applied linguistics under the inimitable Dr. Charles B. Chang at Boston University (now at the City University of Hong Kong).
I then moved to Amman, Jordan, on a Fulbright Scholarship to teach at the University of Petra and conduct research on numerical processing in Arabic readers.
My foray into numerical cognition led me on a splendid journey to Nashville, where I worked with the brilliant Dr. Gavin Price at Vanderbilt University (now at the University of Exeter).
I simultaneously took my first stab at the PhD application cycle, and whilst unsuccessful the first go around, the outcome propelled me to another grand adventure at the University of Pittsburgh working with the ingenious Dr. Melissa Libertus.
While my academic journey has been anything but linear, I am grateful for the special people and places I have come across so far. If you have a knack for anything language-y, math-y, or cog/neuro-y, please drop me a note. I thrive off of intellectual collaboration!
When not doing science, I enjoy drinking americanos, exploring new countries, and singing.
